Please note: To be considered for any of the scholarships offered by Oakland Dollars for Scholars you MUST fully complete the online Student Profile and submit your Student Profile for any scholarships for which you want to be considered. Incomplete Student Profiles will NOT be considered.

Before beginning your Student Profile make sure you meet these minimum requirements:

  • You must be graduating from a high school withn the city of Oakland, CA.

It is recommended that you gather the following information before you start to build your Student Profile:
  • To get started with your Student Profile you will need your email address and a password of your choice to set your login information for the "Student Dashboard." It is recommended that students use a permanent email adress when registering on this site as we will use it to maintain contact with you after your high school graduation for disbursement of your scholarship and so you can provide required documentation to remain eligible for scholarship renewals.
  • Once you are logged into the Student Dashboard review the items listed in the "My Information" section of the Student Dashboard.
  • Know your country of citizenship and your citizenship status.
  • Know your college of choice (indicate the school that is your first choice).
  • Know your intended major area of study (you are not locked into this choice but your application will be more complete if you include this information).
  • Have a copy of your most current high school transcript available.
  • Know your school counselor's name and email address. You will need it so that he/she can verify your transcript information. You must also request an official sealed transcript that is mailed separately.
  • Know your recommender's email address. You will need it so that he/she can provide a recommendation on your behalf.
  • Know your parent's email address. You will need it so that he/she can complete the required financial information. In order to complete the financial information required, your parents will need their most recent federal income tax information available. When your parent completes the financial information, they MUST USE Method 3- Scholarship America's Suggested Family Contribution to provide the financial details. Failure to complete the financial information will affect your eligibility to be considered for our scholarships.
  • Write two (2) essays of 300-500 words each in response to these prompts: Write about your plans as they relate to your educational objectives and career goals (300-500 words). Describe any unusual family or personal circumstances that have affected your achievement in school, your work experience and/or your participation in school or community activities (300-500 words).
  • Be sure to review your profile completely. Once you apply for a scholarship, you can not modify your profile for that scholarship.

Note: Be sure to keep your profile current and remember to check for new scholarships from Scholarship America. Scholarship America will be periodically offering more scholarships that you might be eligible for, and this site will be your direct access to those scholarships.
