Mission

The mission of Oakland Dollars for Scholars is to expand access to educational opportunities for graduating high school seniors enrolled at a high school located in the city of Oakland, CA.

Who We Are

Founded in 1995,  Oakland Dollars for Scholars has awarded more than $150,000  in scholarships to over  60 students.

Oakland Dollars for Scholars is a 100% volunteer operated, 501(c)(3) non-profit community organization that helps students meet the costs of higher education.

Quality education and a college degree has never been more important. Although higher education institutions have opened their doors to more students, rising costs are closing many of those same doors as we have not seen equal strides in the number of students who actually graduate with a four year degree. The numbers are worse for students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

Oakland Dollars for Scholars awards scholarships to eligible graduating high school seniors attending a high school located in the city of Oakland, California. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years of college.

Oakland Dollars for Scholars is proud to be an affiliate of Scholarship America, a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to supporting higher educational aspirations of high school students.

Through Oakland Dollars for Scholars, everyone living within the Oakland, California area has the opportunity to make a strong, collective statement about the importance of education beyond high school.
